Last week I was in London for the official launch of this years Trois Etapes pro-am cycling race.
In 2012 I lead the Walking with the Wounded team alongside 9 other charity teams, who in total raised £1.2 million for a range charities. This year I will be once again leading a team that includes rehabilitating ex-servicemen over some of the toughest stages of the Tour de France.
The 2013 edition of the Trois Etapes will see 14 teams compete over four days (26-29 July) over a flat Prologue and three mountain stages whilst raising crucial funds for worldwide charities including Right to Play, Friendship Works, dZi Foundation, Prostate Cancer UK, Victor Sastres Foundation, World Bicycle Relief and our own team Walking with the Wounded.
The Trois Etapes Race Stages
The launch event included interviews with the amazing 2008 TdF Winner Carlos Sastre and our very own Ed Clancy, the four-time world champion and London 2012 Olympic Gold medalist track cyclist.
My involvement with the Trois Etapes comes through my role as Corporate Ambassador for LDC – who also happen to be a company made up of cyclists and charity challenge fanatics! Its also great to announce the support from EDM for this years Walking with the Wounded team. It is not too late to get involved if you or your company are keen. The whole event will be televised across a documentary on Channel 4 and British Eurosport.
More details about the team, the sponsors and our fund-raising over the coming months.
