I have teamed up with Cycling Scotland to help launch their new Bike Bright campaign to encourage Scottish cyclists to be safe when pedalling in the dark.
As the winter morning and evenings grow increasingly darker, cyclists must put safety first by making themselves highly visible to other road users.
The key messages of Bike Bright are
Light up your bike – front and rear lights.
Wear clothes that help you be seen – it is not essential to be head to tow in luminous colours, but a couple of bright, reflective items are a must.
Winter-proof your bike – mud guards and tyres with a deeper tread.
Keep warm and dry – decent gloves and shoes make winter cycling infinitely more enjoyable.
Make safe decisions – if you would feel nervous to drive in it, don’t cycle in it!
