Around the World in Eighty Days is a classic adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne published in 1873.
Now, more than 144 years later, Mark Beaumont captured that same spirit of adventure with the Artemis World Cycle, his Record Breaking quest to cycle around the World in 80 days.
Leaving from Arc du Triomphe at 4am on July 2nd 2017, Mark cycled an average of 240 miles a day, every day for two and a half months, coming back to Paris in a time of 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes, breaking the previous circumnavigation by 37%, but only beating his target by 1.44%. A race to this endurance extreme is not possible without the dedication of a performance, logistics and media team including Una Beaumont, Laura Penhaul, Mike Griffiths, Johnny Swanepoel. Helmut Scherz, David Scott, Tony Humphreys, Alex Glasgow, Trent & Philip Keys and many more.
